What's this all mean, you ask? When contacting me, you MUST tell me immediately, if this is for Private or Public usage. Personal or Private commissions are those that you will hang on to. You will give as a gift or you will keep in a scrap book of sorts. These sorts of commissions are also done offline as well. They are NOT public or printed for any reason. They are also NOT to design your original character's look. THAT sort of thing goes with Public or Printed work. Public or Printed work is when the piece is going to be used for just that... public or printed use. Whether it's your original character, or a copyrighted character. Add to that, these are going to be used to illustrate a story of some sort. Either yours or another persons created works. The price and size of the work is higher than what a private or personal piece is. The quality is also different. It will take more time to create and will NOT be created during my artcast, The size is 11x17 and the price STARTS at $300.00 USD. I will handle all online art, as I have in the past... as convention style work. Just like at a convention there is pressure to get things done fast and keep the line moving. There is pressure of keeping a conversation alive and there is pressure to make sure people can SEE what you're creating. Online that would be (i.e. making sure the feed is live, making sure the image is within the screen parameters, etc...) I'm also working as fast as I do on sketch cards, during this time. No matter how big the piece is, I'm busting ass to get it done fast. Not everyone wishes to watch a sketch card being drawn and completed in 4 hours time. Additionally, not ALL convention style work is full color. Much of it is pencil or ink. Not EVERYTHING looks great, full color. Keep that in mind. Sometimes a strength lies within penciling, or inking. sometimes a piece fails when it's colored. Add to this, the idea of grey scale. Sometimes grey scale is perfect for a piece. The misconception by some is that my rates are for more than one character. That's not the case. Any more than one character on a piece, will cost you extra. Now, this is the biggest problem I've seen with only a rare few. Just because we're in dialog doesn't mean you've saved a spot for yourself in getting a commission from me. Artists all work differently but I have NEVER changed from this... If you want to commission me to do a piece, you pay in advance for the work. I know many of you have been burned in the past by this decision, but remember, so have the artists sometimes. It's a trust thing and I've never disappointed a client yet. It shouldn't take 23 emails to get you to spend some money for a piece and it shouldn't take that many emails to describe what you want. Now onto the PORN situation. I've been asked to draw 'rape' scenes and tentacle porn and to this day I will not illustrate this. I WILL draw tasteful stuff, and this includes topless. That's not a problem for me. But if you want something more, I'm probably not the artist you are looking for. Unless you're willing to pay thousands of dollars, even if it's a sketch card, you may wanna look elsewhere. Bondage is a tightrope walk for me. What you see is about as willing as I am to illustrate this topic. A lot of times I'm allowed to draw this in a humorous way and for me, that's acceptable. No Refunds policy has been enforced after an encounter with an overseas buyer. They purchased 120.00 worth of posters for only 80 bucks. Those posters were lost in transit supposedly. But once they leave the states, I have no way to track em. And back to the trust issue... I have to trust that someone wasn't just disappointed and wanted their money back. But even so, I'm now out 200.00 and that doesn't make me happy. So that said... I apologize but I cannot give refunds for work. Perhaps under extreme circumstances, I will weigh this issue. The specials I offer and the discounts I give, DO NOT include public or printed works. Those are for Private and Personal commissions ONLY! |
